STEP 1
Open your new checking account with FNB.
To open a checking account, visit any of our three convenient locations, or call our New Accounts Department. Our representatives will be happy to assist you.

Step 2
Move your transactions to your new account.
Change your direct deposits to FNB.
For payroll direct deposit, complete the attached Direct Deposit Sign-up Form and give it to your employer’s payroll office. To change your Social Security direct deposit, complete the attached form and return it to the New Accounts Department at FNB. We will contact the Social Security Administration and handle the switch. One form does it all!
Switch your automatic withdrawals to FNB.
Upon opening an account with First National Bank, you will be given a “Welcome Package.” From this package, send either a voided check or deposit slip to any organization that you have authorized to make automatic withdrawals from your account. This informs them that you have moved your accounts to FNB.
Switch charges automatically billed to your old debit card.
Send the company that you have authorized to receive payment through your old debit card a new voided check from your “Welcome Package.” When you receive your FNB VISA check card, contact them with your new card number and expiration date.
Let outstanding checks and automatic withdrawals clear in your old accounts.
Leave enough money to cover your outstanding checks. It may take several weeks for everything to clear.
Step 3
Close your previous account.
Verify your balance with your previous financial institution.
Make sure all of your transactions have cleared before closing your account.
Write a check to close your account.
Destroy your checks and ATM/Check Cards from your previous financial institution or bring them in and we will destroy them for you.
